2016 Gran Premio de Mexico Recap
The 2016 Grand Premio de Mexico is now being described as pure chaos and excitement. From the first five laps to the last, the Autodromo Hermanos saw wrecks, near crashes, driver advances, runoffs and the battle to the finish line. Lewis Hamilton, British Mercedes – AMG Petronas driver, hit the track with need for speed by dominating Friday to Sunday. Although in the lead most of Sunday, Hamilton saw himself battling Rosberg at many turns throughout the course, even running off track early in the race at Turn 1. With that being said, Rosberg was in for the fight down to the finish line. Rosberg, also a Mercedes – AMG Petronas driver, has found wonderful success throughout this Formula 1™ season and was not going to concede easily to teammate Hamilton. Fighting on the turns, Rosberg had some disadvantages by finding the runoff on Turn 3 and getting bumped by Red Bull’s driver Max Verstappen, who he would continue to battle throughout the race. In the end, Lewis Hamilton completed his set-out goal to win the Grand Premio de Mexico and was joined at the podium by Rosberg and Red Bull’s Daniel Riccardo.
